New deco: Hello Kitty mirror ✨

 

I finally have a new deco project to show! 

As I've said in the previous post, I had returned a skirt I didn't like. It was a very cute skirt, but not made for my body type and didn't look nice on me at all 

They gave me a voucher instead and I spent hours scrolling through their website but I didn't like any of the other clothes. I ended up getting a Hello Kitty hand mirror 

I don't mind most of Kitty's merch because I don't really like the white/red/blue color scheme, but this one was pink and very gyaru-coded  As soon as I put my hands on it, I knew I had to do some deco to level it up!!! 

It's already super cute as it is, but I really felt like it could use of some bling bling! I decided to go for an "accent" deco instead of doing a full deco. I like it when they cover the entire thing with rhinestones, but the plastic feels a bit too light and cheap and I wasn't sure it would handle the weight + I don't have enough rhinestones for it.

So I started by the eyes, nose and whiskers...

And when I got to the bow, I had some issues with it. I had a certain idea on my mind that didn't translate really well onto the real thing and I chose the wrong rhinestone size for that. There were many gaps around the borders and I tried to fill them with smaller SS3 rhinestones, only to hate how it turned out. I ran out of the hot pink SS3 rhinestones and had to order more.

I used excessive sprays of WD40 to take it all off and start all over again. It all came off in a hard shell, very satisfying ww

It took a few days but the new rhinestones were finally here by yesterday! I was kinda insecure about it in the beginning...

But as it progressed, I was starting to see the vision!!!

And the sides of the bow were done!

I originally wanted a really big heart gem in hot pink for the middle, but for some reason, it's impossible to find this kind of crafts gem in Brazil  even on AliExpress or Shopee, I can't seem to find it. The only time I found it was more than 10 years ago at Daiso, but they discontinued the Big Stone series and I've already used the ones I had got back then. So I just had to play along with it.

After I was done, I still had the feeling that something was missing.. And I thought I could make Kitty-chan a bit more reminiscing of myself! My "signature" in my makeup looks are the face gems around my eyes, and lashes would make Kitty-chan more gyaru-looking. Unfortunately, I ran out of black rhinestones and I could only do one single lash on each side, but it turned out super cute nevertheless! 

I sprayed a lil bit of WD40 after 20 hours to get rid of the white glue residue over the rhinestones...

Aaaaand it was done!!!

I'm SO proud of how it turned out!  I almost can't believe I made it myself ww

I'm very fond of my hime hand mirror, but unfortunately the handle has broken long ago and many of the rhinestones have fell off already, so I put it to rest now
