On the past Saturday, I went out to go to the mall, and dressed up to try my new lashes, lenses and Liz Lisa skirt
I needed to return some other skirt that I got online and didn't like it, and I decided that I should go to the movies as well because there's been more than a year since the last time! Ironic coming from a film student, but last year I was living with a tight budget and I've been busy as well. So I thought I should watch "Backrooms"
Shirt and skirt:
Shoes: Chinese Off-brand (present from Larie ♡)
Purse: Off-brand
I have a really hard time trying to coordinate winter outfits but I really liked this one! Thick pantyhoses are a life saver
I thought the eyeshadow combo was so bomb that I took this picture before adding on the lashes
When I got to the mall, I had lunch before anything else because I was starving lol and then I went to return the skirt and now I have some credits in my account at their online store to pick something else, still trying to decide what I should get. Before the movie, I went to Daiso to get some snacks and I picked up this kinako and mochi chocolate. My friend from Japan Kuri said these are very popular there and she's been so insistent for me to try kinako ww I ended up really liking it!
Happily getting out of Americanas with Cheetos and Lay's because they were on sale and I'm quite addicted to Cheetos and chips lol
Using the Sanrio section at Daiso as a backdrop ww
Now about "Backrooms"...
It's not a bad movie at all, but I definitely think it could have been better, and that it could have relied more on the found footage genre, especially considering that the director is the same guy who does the famous YouTube videos.
I'm not particularly interested in creepypasta, but the backrooms have always intrigued me and I think it's a very interesting concept. In my opinion, the movie is more about its characters than the backrooms themselves, and lacks horror as well. It's more of a psychological drama/thriller with little to no horror at all. I would have liked it better if it was more of a survival horror. It's a very okay movie.
However, I do think it's a very nice thing that a guy that young had the chance to make a movie with a studio like A24. It's very rare to see young directors doing big projects like this one, especially those who are not nepobabies, so I respect that so much. He's very talented and has a lot of potential to do many great movies. I really hope "Backrooms" was just the beginning from him!
Rated it 3/5 on Letterboxd
