Apparently... I'm a cat mom!

So.... Story time!

As I've mentioned before, I live in a shared house. Earlier this year, there was a girl who "took care" of a cat named Salem (he let him go out so I don't really consider that caretaking lmao). She moved away and didn't adapt him to the new house, so he kept coming back.

Time passed, but Salem would still break free and return to the shared house, skinnier and paws all dirty. There is a vet in the house who advised the said girl that trying to keep him with her wasn't a good idea, specially because she ended up getting a new cat.

It's been a few weeks hearing him meowing in the balcony, which happens to be in front of my bedroom. Last week, he jumped over my window and meowed his lungs out.

I had no choice.

As a cat lover, I couldn't let him stay like that, nor the vet. So I let him in!

Meet Salem!

I got him everything he needs: a litterbox, water and food bowls, the best dry food I could find, wet food sachets, treats, scratcher, toys.

Luckily I live in a solo room and it's big enough for the two of us. I let him out in the hallways when all the doors are locked by the night, so he doesn't get bored or stressed.

He's still adapting so naturally he meows and scratches the window from time to time, but overall he's very calm and sweet!

Salem likes to cuddle a lot.

We often nap together and he cuddles me with his paws! He's so sweet that he lets me cut his nails!

The only issue is that he has "energy peaks" by 5AM and always manage to wake me up to play with him.

He's a very easy-going cat to take care of, but still has to understand that he's not an outdoor kitty anymore. That will take time, patience, and of course, a lot of love!

He's always napping like... That

I was raised among a lot of dogs, but have always dreamt about having a cat. I'm really passionate about felines, and I feel so blessed that Salem literally chose me as his caretaker.

It was so unexpected and so suddenly, but I love him so much! I'm so thankful for his company and all the love he gives me! And I'm also really lucky to have a vet living under the same roof as me.

I hope I can leash-train him in the future because I feel like he doesn't exercise enough in our room, but I try my best to keep him active and entertained!

Being a cat mom is a dream come true!

  1. That's so kind of you to take him in as your own! I can't believe that the other girl just left him, and even bought a new cat!!!! But it looks like you're going to provide him a loving home <3333

    1. Seems like people have no idea that cats are very different of dogs! But I think that we were meant to be either way!!!
